Question

Three voltmeters are connected in a circuit as shown in diagram. Find correct relation among their readings (V1, V2and V3).

Options :

  1. V1 > V2 = V3

  2. V1 + V2 = V3

  3. V1 = V2 + V3

  4. V1 + V3 = V2

Show Answer

Answer :

V1 + V2 = V3

Solution :

Across points P & Q (V1 & V2) combined is in parallel to (V3)

Therefore V12 = V3 ⇒ V1 + V2 = V3
